Tuscany- Monte Carlo, Pisa, and Florence

Tuscany
Monte Carlo, Pisa, and Florence

So its now been a couple days of extreme traveling. Its around 11 now just as I start writing this and well I’m tired. I’ve had a long long day, so this will be a shorter entry then usual, just briefing you on the highlights of my day, and not going as in depth as I usually do. Ok so today we left Venice, said Ciao to the beautiful watery city and got on our bus to make our first stop for lunch (this was a long travel day.) Lunch was in true Italian fashion, with wines, bread and oil and homemade pasta noodles. It was a very special treat because the lunch was held at a Tuscan vineyard, in Monte Carlo and we really got to enjoy, fresh home made cooking. And I have to tell you it was the best cooking we have had thus far. They had fresh picked olives, homemade balsamic vinegar and virgin olive oil for the bread. They had sundried tomatoes dripping in a mix of oils, all kinds of cheese, salami, and the fantastic homemade pasta I have already for mentioned. We also got to sample red and white wines (2 red and 2 white) and had a special dessert wine to dip biscuits in at the close of the meal. I favored the sweet desert wine (because I actually liked the red we had in Venice best so far and I am not the biggest fan of white, although I liked the spumante we had on the gondola). Finally to cap off the entire meal we had a glass of Grappa, which I only had the tiniest taste of. It was ridiculously strong and felt like liquid fire going down my throat.
After the nice luncheon we went and stopped at Pisa for only 30 minutes for a photo op. We didn’t stay long because all Pisa really has is it’s leaning tower, a large number of pick pockets in the area, and fake Rolex’s and Gucci purses. It was enough to make anyone gag. Still we got our pictures with the tower, and now we can say that for a short moment in time we accomplished the mighty feat that every tourist does while visiting pisa, we successfully pretended to hold the tower from crumbling into a stony mess.
Ahhhh tourism.
Anyway until tomorrow.
Ciao.
